Terry Schiavo? What about Sun Hudson?
It never ceases to amaze me how selectively caring the right (read “wrong”) can be, especially when it seems that the appearance of a cause will further their skewed agenda. Take the case of a black mother, Wanda Hudson, who refused permission to Texas Children’s Hospital to remove a breathing tube that was keeping her six-month old child alive. Too bad for Ms. Hudson and her son, Sun Hudson, since Texas law permits a hospital to TERMINATE LIFE SUPPORT if it deems fit, whether or not the family, or the patient, consents. Due process is essentially denied and equal protection is clearly ignored. What the heck is going on here?
Terry Schiavo had expressed, as found to be fact in countless hearings, her wishes. Sun Hudson, a mere six months old, couldn’t express wishes of any kind, so his mother, his legal guardian, one would think, should have control over his care, right? Unfortunately for Sun and Wanda Hudson, there was no uprising of support, legal, vocal or financial that would save his little life. Where was the outrage at Sun Hudson’s killing, huh? What the heck is going on here? What?
You might be thinking that I’m strecthing the facts, but as reported by the Houston Chronicle, the child moved, wiggled, with eyes open, smacked his lips, took a few last breaths on his own and then died after the breathing tube was removed.
What’s the excuse for selectively supporting open-ended medical support for Terry Schiavo and not for cases like Sun Hudson? Where’s the outrage against Sun Hudson’s state murder? How can the President make a statement like this:
President’s Statement on Terri Schiavo
The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected – and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.
WHERE AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS, HE SIGNED THE BILL THAT PUT SUN HUDSON TO DEATH INTO LAW? What the *$*^&@ is going on here?????
Guess what? I’m not a leftist, a communist or any other kind of “ist.” The right over the last ten years has rolled on with its super-powered media war, turning honest, hard-working Americans into Stepford citizens by manipulating, fabricating and hiding the truth. It must stop. At least be honest – there are two sides to every story and then there’s the truth, right? Play to win, sure, but (*@*^$ play fair. It’s the AMERICAN WAY, dammit.
